EUROVISION isn’t a problem for botanical life

Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, lives only news from Eurovision song contest during the last days. But Ukrainian botanists didn’t have right to forget very important date – 150th years from birthday of the famous botanist, Academician Oleksandr Vasyliovych (Aleksandr Vasiljevich) Fomin, who was a co-founder the Academy of Sciences in Ukraine, Ukrainian and Russian Botanical Societies as well as to made very important contribution in investigation of East European and Caucasian flora. So, today the solemn meeting held in the Botanical Garden of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, which named in a honor of the well-known scientist. 18402554_1289075661139461_450448214932888391_nIt is pleasant to note that the event has collected not only our colleagues from the National Academy of Sciences, other Kyiv universities, but and botanists from friendly Georgia where O.V. During the meeting, the renewed memorial plaque has been opened, several presentation about life and activity of Oleksandr Fomin were presented, and also guests of the botanical garden had opportunities to visit our historical museum and to watch our living collections of plants.
