A little bit about Fritillaria in Ukraine

Fritillaria species are one from the most beautiful spring plants in Ukraine. Every April they give happiness to people, decorating our forests and meadows by fantastic blooming. So, the Global Botanical Portal wasn’t able to leave these plants without special attention.

Fritillaria ruthenica Wikstr.

There are 4 species (Frittilaria meleagris L., F. meleagroides Patrin ex Schult. et Schult.f., F. montana Hoppe, F. ruthenica Wikstr., ) in natural flora of the country which is listed in the Red Data Book. Also one species (Fritillaria imperialis L.) is very popular in culture, though, of course, number species of the genus increases in Ukrainian private gardens every year.
