The Global Botanical Garden was going to post information about one of the largest botanical garden of Europe today, but yesterday this plan was changed. The reason is wonderful blooming of Corydalis species which I could watch in forests near Kyiv. So, it is the best time to share something information and pictures about species of the genus from Ukrainian natural flora.
There are 8 species of Corydalis in Ukraine according to “Vascular Plants of Ukraine. A nomenclatural checklist” (Mosyakin, Fedoronchuk, 1999): C. capnoides (L.) Pers., C. cava (L.) Schweigg. & Korte, C. intermedia (L.) Merat, C. lutea (L.) DC. in Lam. & DC., C.marschalliana (Pall. ex Willd.) Pers., C. paczoskii N. Busch, C. pumila (Host) Rchb., C.solida (L.) Clairv. However, presence of some species (C. lutea, C. pumila) need confirmation in the country. Nowaday there isn’t available current data about their location and distribution. You can find pictures of some species below:
Separately, I would like to notice that no Corydalis species is under protection on national level in Ukraine, but many from them are listed in regional red lists. So, the collecting of their flowers, bulbs and seeds is forbidden or limited in majority areas of the country.
